MARYSVILLE – Located just west of Columbus, visitors to central Ohio’s Union County this holiday season will be enchanted by an unforgettable getaway that blends beloved traditions with a dash of new, unusual, and even high-tech memorabilia.
MERRY AND BRIGHT BRIDGES AND WONDERLAND PARKS
Two historic covered bridges will be adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and greet visitors with beautiful photo opportunities. The Pottersburg Bridge, 17141 Inskeep-Cratty Rd. in North Lewisburg and the Bigelow Bridge, just north of State Route 161 on Ax Handle Rd. at the Milford Center, highlights of this year’s Merry and Bright Bridges Tour. See these and more on the new Covered Bridge Trail. Visitors are encouraged to share their shiny bridge pics and trail fun using the hashtags #UCCoveredBridges and #unioncountyohio.
Experience an old-fashioned, small-town Richwood parade that culminates at the flick of the switch and transforms beautiful Richwood Lake Park into a vacation wonderland. Also, don’t miss Plain City’s Pastime Park in all its vacation glory! Christmas lights will remain lit in both parks through January.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN
The magic of the season begins with the generations-old Uptown Marysville Christmas Walk Monday, November 28, 5-8pm, marking the much-anticipated opening of Santa’s Village in Partners Park, where reindeer, children’s activities, dance groups, carol singers, musicians , costumed characters, horse-drawn carriage rides, prizes and photos with Saint Nick himself greet visitors.
The countdown to Christmas begins when the switch is flipped on the massive, 30-foot tall Marysville Community Christmas Tree. Uptown merchants stay open into the evening offering coffee, cookies, special discounts and exhibits highlighting the ideal “buy local” holiday gifts. The excitement in Uptown Marysville continues throughout the season and is reignited on December 4th with the annual Marysville Elks Christmas Parade.
In addition to this giant Christmas tree, Santa’s Village features Santa’s house, festive music and glittering Christmas lights, as well as free visits with Santa to create holiday memories families will cherish forever. Santa is available at the Village from November 28th to December 24th, but the fun continues through January 2nd with Merry on Main Iceless Ice Skating and Skate Rentals being offered FREE to visitors from December 10th to January 2nd will, except on Christmas Day.
Instead of using real ice, the high-tech twist on the long-cherished vacation rink is made of slabs of synthetic polymer sheets that reduce surface friction just like the real thing. It is now a popular training tool for pros, Olympic and other ice hockey players, and figure skaters. With no need for frozen water, the rink is unaffected by temperature and is protected from rain and snow by the Memorial Health Pavilion.
