SALEM, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. November 2022–

Hickey Metal Fabrication of Salem, Ohio is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2022 with a focus on increased automation and continued expansion.

Four generations strong, with 400,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities spread across seven plants, Hickey Metal advances with deep-rooted core values as the Midwest’s leading vertically integrated metals fabricator. From manual hammering and welding to robotic systems and automation, Hickey Metal accommodates every industry shift in its processing. “With our focus on quality and a continuous investment in the latest industry technologies, we offer our customers a complete end-to-end metal fabrication process,” says Leo Hickey, President of Hickey Metal.

The ever-expanding company is currently adding 25,000 square feet to its seventh facility. “The enlarged facility will significantly increase our capacity and growth space,” said Adam Hickey, vice president of Hickey Metal. “The addition will include a state-of-the-art Trumpf 7030 12KW laser center capable of fully automated processing of any steel up to ½ inch thick. The parts are then fed into two automated Trumpf 5000 bending cells and finish-welded in Lincoln FAB-PAK FHS head and tailstock robotic cells.” The completion date for the Plant Seven expansion is mid-December.

Their quest for deep automation has increased their production capabilities exponentially. “By integrating new technologies into our seven-plant operation, our capacity scale has increased significantly,” explains Leo Hickey. “And that has resulted in larger and more complicated jobs being completed faster.”

Hickey Metal Fabrication finishes all laser and plasma cutting, bending, machining, robotic and manual welding in-house. “This is metal fabrication from start to finish – we burn, bend, weld, assemble, powder coat and ship,” explains Adam Hickey.

The facility expansion also creates employment opportunities at Hickey Metal. “The new building will allow us to hire a skilled workforce, people who are knowledgeable about drawing and programming,” says Adam Hickey. “We will also hire engineers who know the 3D world and can work with advanced robotic software. For anyone with experience in the metalworking industry, this is a great opportunity to work with the latest technology.”
