Joynaus’ story

Joynaus is a 7 years old boy from Kigali Rwanda.

He was referred to CoRSU in April 2011 by the African New Life ministries in Rwanda. He was diagnosed with bilateral genu recurvatum as a result of post injection fibrosis. This was as a result of poorly administered quinine injections in his thighs following malaria when he was two weeks old. He had difficulty with walking and could not participate fully in his community. He received surgery and post-operative therapy commenced one day after surgery. Four months later, he was able to walk independently and presently doesn’t have a disability any more.
