NASHVILLE – The weather in Tennessee has been suitable for most Christmas tree farms this year, making it a great time for your family to pick the perfect tree to take home.

“Our growers have worked hard and this year’s harvest of Christmas trees is of the finest quality,” said Justin Diel, owner of Big Sky Farm in Sumner County and executive director of the Tennessee Christmas Tree Growers Association. “As a result, there are many locally grown trees throughout the state. A Tennessee Christmas tree bought straight from the farm often has better needle retention than what you can find at the store. For the best opportunity to find the perfect tree for your home and family, visit one of Tennessee’s beautiful Christmas tree farms soon.”

Many Christmas tree farms are opening earlier than usual this year; some as early as November 19th. We recommend visiting your local Christmas tree farm early in the season for the best selection. Regardless of when you travel, manufacturers recommend that you contact them prior to your trip to find out tree availability and operating times.

This is the fifth year that Pinewood Christmas Tree Farm in Williamson County has been open to the public and will be the first year that trees will be selected and felled. “We are thrilled to be an important part of our customers’ treasured vacation memories and to provide real trees for their homes,” said owner Jamie Faircloth. “We also look forward to offering our customers tree species that are locally grown in Middle Tennessee.”

If you don’t care about a tree, there are other hopeful decorating options. Lush, natural wreaths and garlands for the exterior of a home are a perfect solution for those who want to enjoy aromatic holiday greenery. Many Christmas tree growers have specialized equipment for wreath and garland making and work with customers to create the ideal type and size wreath.

Whether you’re hoping to create the storybook wreath, take a hike or wagon ride along the trails, sip a cider, or stroll through a gift shop, at a Tennessee Christmas tree farm, you’ll create memories that will last a lifetime.
