The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the annual consumer price index (CPI) inflation rate was 6.5% at the end of December 2022. Compared to November of the same year, the inflation rate fell by 7.1%. Nonetheless, many US states decided to continue issuing relief checks this January despite slowing inflation. These relief checks can be stimulus checks or tax refunds to provide relief from the high cost of living, as reported by seal.

After Gonzalez, In California, the Middle Class Tax Refund continues to give out up to $1,050. Payments started in October 2022 but will continue until this month.
In Colorado, taxpayers requested an extension to file their 2021 tax returns. The filing deadline was October 17 last year. Fortunately, Colorado taxpayers will continue to receive up to $750 through the end of January this year.
A tax refund of up to $300 can be obtained in Hawaii. Individuals who made no more than $100,000 in 2021 and couples who made no more than $200,000 in 2021 are eligible for $300. On the other hand, individuals who have earned more than $100,000 and couples who have made more than $200,000 can only get $100. Payments began to be paid out in August 2022. However, taxpayers who filed their 2021 tax returns between July 31 and December 31 last year will receive the payments at a later date. After the tax return is accepted, those who choose direct deposit will receive their payments 10 weeks later. On the other hand, if you opted for paper checks, you will receive them 12 weeks later.
In Idaho, Gov. Brad Little has approved $600 worth of tax refunds. Payments started in September 2022 but will continue until this month.
In Massachusetts, tax refunds were 14% of a taxpayer’s tax liability. Refunds began in November 2022. Those who filed their 2021 tax return before October 17, 2022 received their refund in December. However, those who submit by September 15 this year will receive their refunds a month later.
In New Mexico, individual claimants can still receive $500 in tax refunds. On the other hand, joint applicants get $1,000. Residents only have until May 2023 to file their 2021 income tax returns and be eligible for tax refunds, as reported by Gonzalez.
