Robinhood, a major American broker-dealer, announced support for Cardano (ADA) just days before Vasil’s update. Robinhood is apparently interested in expanding its cryptocurrency offerings in recent times. Cardano is the latest digital asset that the brokerage platform has chosen to offer its clients for trading.

Robinhood is looking to expand its cryptocurrency offerings

On Thursday on Twitter, Robinhood announced the listing of Cardano via its official handle. “You asked … Cardano is now on Robinhood,” said the handle. A quick glance at the Robinhood website shows that the brokerage platform has already added support for Cardano’s operations.

This renewed interest in expanding the offering of digital assets has prompted a flow of newly listed assets. Furthermore, a long period follows in which the broker has refrained from listing new cryptocurrencies. Cardano’s listing comes from increased customer demand for the asset, as implied by Robinhood’s Twitter handle.

In April, news of Robinhood surfaced listing the Shiba Inu (SHIB) meme coin. Data on the official Robinhood platform confirmed the news. SHIB rode on the back of the quote with a 30% rise. The move followed a Shiba Inu community petition on Change.org for the platform to list the meme coin. The platform also noted that it also listed Compound (COMP), Polygon (MATIC) and Solana (SOL).

Cardano’s Vasil upgrade sees decent progress

The recent development comes when Cardano’s long-awaited Vasil update is around the corner, scheduled for September 22nd. Input-Output Hong Kong (IOHK), the blockchain company behind Cardano, released an update on the progress of Vasil’s update on Wednesday.

IOHK noted once again that Cardano’s team is examining three critical indicators on the path to the upgrade. These include: “75% of the mainnet blocks created by the final release candidate, approximately 25 upgraded exchanges (representing approximately 80% liquidity) and the top 10 updated DApps from TVL.”

The team noted that the week brought some progress. It said over 70% of the dApps monitored confirmed that pre-production tests were performed successfully. Additionally, the team said over 80% of Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) have upgraded to the latest version. IOHK also revealed that up to 27 power plants are currently being integrated.
