Early voting in Georgia’s runoff election breaks records as more absentee ballots were returned and voted for than any midterm runoff ever.
Georgia Secretary of State Chief Operating Officer Gabriel Sterling tweeted Friday morning that the number stood at 116,362.
“So far, that’s about 8% of the voter turnout. And they can still be returned at the district election headquarters by 7 p.m. on election day,” he said.
Sterling also said in a tweet on Friday, “I suppose we’ve already eclipsed the 2018 vote.”
HERSCHEL WALKER SAYS GEORGIA’S RECORD SENATE TURNOUT ‘LOOKS GOOD TO ME’
On Thursday night, he said the state saw 293,795 voters that day, meaning it “would likely break 1.8 million before Tuesday’s election.”
“To put that in perspective, the last midterm runoff had less than 1.5 million total votes in the four-week 2018 runoff,” Sterling added.
More than a quarter of a million voters turned out to vote on Monday.
According to the Georgia Active Voters Report by Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, approximately 7 million people are listed as active voters in Georgia.
Early voting closes on Friday and Election Day is set for December 6th.
OBAMA TARGETS WALKER WHILE GATHERING WITH WARNOCK PRIOR TO GEORGIA SENATE ELECTION
The contest, which the Wall Street Journal says is one of the most expensive in Congressional history, could help increase the Democratic Senate majority by one should Warnock become the top Republican challenger to Herschel Walker.
The candidates have garnered support from some of their parties’ strongest thugs.
Former President Obama stumbled upon Warnock in Atlanta on Thursday – his second trip to the peach state in just over a month.
President Biden is poised to provide remote support to Warnock with appearances in Boston.

Walker, who has battled with Sens. Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham, said earlier this week he thinks the record turnout looks “good” for his bid.
“I think the people that are coming out of what I’m hearing and seeing, it’s going to be a good thing for us,” he told Fox News.
Former President Trump will hold a tele-rally with Walker ahead of Tuesday’s runoff, Republican sources confirmed to Fox News. However, the former president will not be traveling to the Peach State to hold an in-person rally with Walker.
