FIFA to Launch NFT Platform for Soccer Fans

The governing body of international football, FIFA, has announced the imminent launch of an NFT platform for fans of the sport around the world. FIFA + Collect will offer digital collectibles that perpetuate the greatest gaming moments of the FIFA World Cups, the organization promised.

FIFA develops the NFT platform in collaboration with the blockchain company Algorand

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) is preparing to open its new platform for non-fungible tokens (NFT) by the end of the month. At the outset, FIFA + Collect will release a series of initial token collections and unveil details on upcoming exclusive and limited edition collections, the organization said in a press release released on Friday.

The digital collectibles will represent memorable moments from football matches and will feature iconic images and images from the FIFA World Cup and FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments. “This exciting announcement makes FIFA collectibles available to any football fan, democratizing the possibility of owning a portion of the FIFA World Cup,” commented Romy Gai, Chief Business Officer of FIFA, elaborating:

FIFA + Collect will be available on FIFA +, the federation’s digital platform that provides access to live football matches from around the world, interactive games, news, tournament information and other original content. FIFA + Collect will initially launch in three languages: English, French and Spanish, with more on the way and on the web and mobile devices.

FIFA’s NFT platform was created as part of the partnership with Algorand announced earlier this year. “The commitment FIFA has made to connect the Algorand-enabled Web3 is a testament to their innovative spirit and desire to engage directly and seamlessly with football fans,” said the interim CEO of the company.
