The 2022 U.S. Open continues into the fourth round on Sunday, with American Coco Goff leading the singles event as the 12th seed. The 18-year-old was the most profound in the game. World No. 46 unseeded Australian Ajla Tomljanovic will return to action after Serena Williams’ magical U.S. Open on Friday night.
The girls’ group opened in the first week. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, who competed on Monday, is still a leader in the field, but still one of only two in the top five. The four players still in the top 10 include U.S. No. 8 Jessica Pegula, who will also wait until Monday.
For the men, No. 1 Daniel Medvedev will take on No. 23 Nick Kyrgyz at Arthur Ashe Stadium in prime time. No. 2 Rafael Nadal and No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz are still on the field and will play on Monday.
In the prestigious doubles match, the first men’s team of defending U.S. Open champion Rajiv Rahm and Britain’s Joe Salisbury will face Italian duo and 15th seed Simone Bole Leigh and Fabio Fognini.

Men’s Singles, Day Match
Berrettini reaches second quarter in a row
13th seed Matteo Berrettini advanced to the quarter-finals with a five-set victory over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Sunday. The Italian found himself a set behind and broke serve in the second set, but won 7-6 in the tie-break to make it 1-1.
The pair then split in the third and fourth sets before Berrettini took control in the fifth, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, 4-6, 6- 2 wins: 46. Davidovich Fokina appeared to be hampered by a knee injury in the final, but was able to finish. Berrettini advanced to the quarterfinals for the second year in a row. He lost to finalist Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals in 2021.
Luther knocks out Mutter
Berrettini next faces No. 5 seed Caspar Rudd on Tuesday. The fifth-seeded Norwegian defeated unseeded Frenchman Curentin Mutter in four sets. Luther led 6-1, 6-2 in the opening game before Mutter bounced back 7-6 (7-4) in the third to stay alive. But Luther regained control in the fourth game, winning 6-1, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 and taking on Berrettini in the quarter-finals .
