HostDime, a pioneer in global edge data center infrastructure, has released its design plans for its latest purpose-built, next-generation Tier IV data center facility in Guadalajara, Mexico, which will begin construction in the first quarter of 2023. HostDime is the owner and developer and operator of this new data center facility nicknamed “Andromeda”.

In July 2022, HostDime announced that it had purchased the three-acre property in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, Mexico. This is HostDime’s second carrier-neutral data center in Guadalajara, whose current 20,000 square foot facility is currently operating at 80% capacity.

Tier IV is the highest certification a data center can receive and the design of this data center facility will conform to HostDime’s Tier IV data center platform design standards, a rarity in the country. It is certified by the Uptime Institute and will be only the second Tier IV public data center in Mexico. Tier IV is the highest certification a data center can receive.

Tier IV data centers, often referred to as Four-Nine, have 99.99% availability and often achieve 100% uptime due to their highly redundant power supply infrastructure. The facility will also incorporate ICREA V standards and thus also be ICREA V certified by ICREA (International Computer Room Experts Association).

The new facility follows HostDime’s iconic modern style of all the facilities it designs and builds. This style is a combination of HostDime’s outstanding next-generation data center design, purpose-built Tier IV highly redundant power infrastructure, and customer-focused colocation amenities.

The data center will have a total size of 100,000 square feet with a critical IT load capacity of 3 MW. The facility will have three floors of data center space; data halls for private data center suites; colocation cage room; private lockable colocation racks; various MMR carrier rooms for connection and a dedicated data hall for hybrid cloud workload use cases.

The design of this new facility also includes additional vertical office floors at the front of the data center. These office floors cater to the local demand that HostDime Mexico is seeing from potential customers who wish to become data center tenants and office tenants. These office floors are not the typical office build as they adopt the highly redundant power infrastructure implemented in the data center. So this will accommodate unique use cases of companies looking for specialized technology office space while also being data center tenants.

“We are very excited to announce the design of HostDime’s new data center in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, in the cradle of innovation, the ‘Silicon Valley of Mexico,'” said Eduardo Basulto Jiménez, CEO of HostDime México. “Guadalajara has innovative technology roots and as Mexico’s second largest metropolis, we know this new data center facility will adequately serve the surrounding market.”

HostDime’s mission is to design, build and operate next-generation, purpose-built, public data center facilities in emerging markets around the world. It offers a range of cloud-native infrastructure products and services, including physical bare metal servers, cloud servers (both private and public), colocation (cages and racks), and hardware-as-a-service at all global Edge data center locations.
