How many fans were in attendance for Syracuse’s win against Louisville?

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse football coach Dino Babers had no players in the first group he mentioned before the microphone on Saturday night.

“Really proud of Otto’s army,” Barbers said, calling out Student Su.

“The noise level was through the roof, and without a doubt, it affected a very, very special athlete in Malik Cunningham. I couldn’t be more proud of the JMA (Wireless Dome) vibe.”

SU defeated Louisville 31-7 in Saturday’s season opener in front of a declared 37,110.

When it comes to the recent Syracuse home opener, this attendance was in the middle.

That’s higher than last year’s home opener against Rutgers.

The Orange’s most played home opener since 2000 was its 2019 game against No. 1 Clemson. Although the game ended in a 41-6 loss to Syracuse, it was still packed with 50,248 spectators.

Syracuse (1-0, 1-0 ACC) travel to Connecticut (0-1) next week before heading home to face Purdue on Sept. 17.
