Fallen Legion: Rise To Glory starts damn strong, albeit somewhat confused. The story starts at the beginning and, after a short tutorial, you are thrown into a scenario that forces you to use everything you have learned – and more – to overcome the centurion Rhondus, not insurmountable but surprisingly difficult.

Centurion Rhondus is the first boss of the Flames Of Rebellion campaign, with Laendur. Laendur is involved in an initiative coup of him and, during his daring rebellion, comes face to face with an old acquaintance. Rhondus is no joke, and if you are expecting a walk you may find yourself splashed against a nearby wall.

The attacks of the centurion Rhondus

Rondo, essentially being a tutorial boss, does not have too many attacks. However, the attacks she has inflict on right amount of damage and force you to deal with his narrow parade windows. His movepool is small, but each attack must be addressed uniquely if you want to continue your rebellion.

attack Explanation Counter
Attack with the club This is Rhondus’ most basic attack. It leaps forward and swings the club up quickly for moderate damage. This attack comes out surprisingly quickly. There is very little time between arriving at your destination and swinging his club. Try parrying as it stops moving, then counterattack for bonus damage.
Ranged attack This is Rhondus’ second basic attack. Rhondus fires a slow bullet that deals moderate damage on contact. This attack is easy enough to parry if you’ve dealt with the slight lag and precise windows required to land them. This attack can be reflected, and if so, Rhondus will be vulnerable to a counterattack.
Race to the bulwark Rhondus will only use this attack once his HP has been reduced to around 50 percent. Rhondus takes a stand, dashes forward, and then slams his shield into the nearest warrior. This attack deals high damage and Rhondus will automatically reflect any projectiles fired at him during and shortly after this attack. Additionally, Rhondus will parry any melee hits in a similar way. This attack is embarrassing because the defensive bonuses Rhondus gets when using it make it difficult for him to counter. However, the timing of the attack itself isn’t too dissimilar to its Mace Attack. Just keep in mind that there is a clear conclusion before Rhondus dives forward. From what we could tell, this attack replaces his Mace Attack.

Rhondus mechanics

Rhondus’s only unique mechanic is its ability to parry your attacks when using Bulwark Rush. You will want avoid using Winchester as all of its bullets will bounce backwards and this can cause unnecessary damage.

Instead, use your spearman to rush to make sure the attack is safeand delivering the attack he hits and is not parried, you can then proceed with using Winchester to deal some bonus ranged damage.

Battle strategy

Rhondus will punish you for not having control over the parry mechanisms, and its damage is high enough that it won’t be long before you feel the pain. In the first battle, you want to play it safe. His attacks are easy enough to parry, and you can then counterattack with bonus damage to drain his BP. This will lead to a quick Rapid attack.

Once Rhondus reaches around 50% HP, his attack pattern changes and he will start using Bulwark Rush almost exclusively. This attack is much more difficult to counter, so instead Parry the attack, wait for Rhondus to return to his lane, then attack with your Spear. Assuming Rhondus has stopped blocking, you can continue with Winchester. You want to attack Rhondus as much as possible between Bulwark Rush throws.

Remember that you have access to Laendur as well as your warriors. Laendur has the Spear of Dafydd, which is an excellent damage spell that can be used to bomb Rhondus’ BPs. You can also use it to damage his HP if you cast him during a Rushdown attack. Dafydd’s spear has a pretty low mana cost, so it should be available quite often during this fight.

It will take two or three Rushdown attacks to take down the Centurion Rhondus. Once it is down, you are free to move on to the real game.
