Get the gramophone and records

When your game begins, start by accumulating points to reach the excavation site. Come in and grab the gramophone by the table down here when you’re there. You also have to take a black disc which can be in three places.

Go back to where you got the gramophone and place it on the table to open the path to the staff stands below. When the opening is complete, pick up the gramophone again.

How to build the wind staff in Origins

Like the other sticks, you must find the Wind Record, three personnel parts and the Wind Crystal to acquire the weapon. Starting with the Record, you can find it in the Generator 5 area in three places.

Now that you have it, you can go to The Crazy Place and grab the Wind Crystal. To get to the portal, enter the tunnel next to Generator 4. Place the gramophone on the table to slowly make the portal appear and go through. The yellow pedestal here will lift up and give you the Crystal. Go back to the main map when you have it.

Now is the time to get the three parts. Fortunately, this staff has the simplest process for this. You may have noticed the three giant robots that regularly walk the map. When they step on parts of the map, you should notice that you can see a yellow light under their feet from time to time. You have to go to the areas they are stepping on, shoot that light and when they step on you, you will be transported inside the robot’s head. Don’t miss it, or you’ll be instantly shot down.

Some important things to consider because seeing the robot light can sometimes be a bit difficult: only one foot will light up as the robot passes. If all three robots are crossing at the same time, only one of the six feet can be illuminated. One will go through No Man’s Land with steps near Generators 2 and 3. The middle one will go past the excavation site and can fit into five different areas, so you have more time to find the foot here. The last one crosses the church and is accessed only in front of and behind the building.

When you are carried to the robot head, you can pick up the staff part and drop behind you through the pipes. You will be kicked out after a while if you take too long to look around. All three robots have a different part in them.

Now that you have the parts, go to the bottom of the excavation site and build the wind staff on the altar to the left. With it, you can emit bursts of air that will repel zombies directly in front of you.

How to upgrade the wind staff in Origins

Now that you have the wind stick, it’s time to start updating it. Start by entering The Crazy Place. Directly above the yellow portal is a set of four rings that will rotate when you shoot them with the Wind Staff. While there are several symbols around the rings, the only ones we’re concerned about are the ones that point towards the center of the room. From the inside out, set it to show two arrows, two Ls, a triangle and an L and a triangle. This is always the code to start the Wind Staff update process.

When you have entered the correct code, the ceiling will spin around and you will hear Samantha say that you have. Now go back to the main map. There are three chimneys around the map from which smoke is now coming out. You must position yourself so that you look towards the excavation site and shoot the wind cane at the smoke to redirect it towards the mound. Here are the locations of the smoking fireplaces:

When all three chimneys have their smoke flowing towards the excavation site, the smoke will stop flowing and you will hear Samantha talking to you. Go down to the bottom of the excavation site. There are four consoles around the area where you need to flip the lever to rotate the rings so they all glow yellow. If you’ve done the above steps correctly, a yellow sphere will float at the bottom of here. Shoot it with the wind stick and it will fly to the ceiling.

Now, for the final step, go back to The Crazy Place and place the Wind Staff on the pedestal you got the crystal from earlier. You have to kill the enemies in this area to load the update. You can go anywhere in this area and even load up multiple sticks at once, but be careful not to get trapped with the constantly changing walls here. When finished, the staff inventory bar will light up, showing you that you can grab the new updated wind staff, Fury of Boreas.

With the updated Wind Staff, you can charge a shot to extinguish a tornado that will grab zombies and lift them into the air when they get close enough. This takes up all the shots in your clip, forcing you to reload, so Speed Cola is a recommended perk.

You can also use the d-pad to flip personnel and fire a revitalizing charge directly at downed squadmates.
