What to know

The NC State Wolfpack homestand continues as they prepare to face the Connecticut Huskies at 7:30 PM ET on September 24 at Carter-Finley Stadium. The wolf pack will stalk after a victory while UConn will stumble after a defeat.

NC State had a touchdown and reserve change in a 27-14 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders last week. The team ran off with 20 points in the first half and mostly sat on those in the second to collect the win. NC State’s RB Demie Sumo-Karngbaye looked sharp as he took a punch in a quick touchdown as well as receiving four passes for a TD and 92 yards.

NC State’s defense was also a presence, as it picked up three interceptions and a fumble. CB Aydan White picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt into the wound bringing him back to the other side for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, UConn took a hard hit against the Michigan Wolverines last week, dropping 59 to nil. The Huskies were in a difficult position for half, with the score already standing at 38 to zero. RB Victor Rosa played a memorable game, but not in the way you’d like to be remembered: he tinkered once with just 1.64 yards per carry.

The Wolfpacks are the favorites in this one, with an expected margin of victory of 38.5 points (!). Those who take them against the spread are betting on a similar result to that of the team’s race last week, where they covered a spread of 10.5 points.

NC State’s win brought them to 3-0 while UConn’s defeat brought them to 1-3. A couple of defensive stats to watch: NC State enters the matchup with an average of just 66.3 running yards per game, good for the nation’s sixth-best result. As for the Huskies, they rank 17th in the nation when it comes to layoffs, with nine in the season.
