Summerdale, PA – Acting Secretary of Education Eric Hagarty today visited Central Penn College to highlight the post-secondary and career-ready programs available to students across the Commonwealth.

“Pennsylvania’s postsecondary institutions prepare learners of all ages to graduate and pursue meaningful, family-sustaining careers in a variety of fields and industries,” Hagarty said. “The innovative programs offered at colleges and universities across the Commonwealwealth, like those at Central Penn College, prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s workforce.”

During the visit, Hagarty saw a demonstration of the school’s “E-Stim” device, which is used to provide electrical stimulation for physical therapy. He also met members of the Rocket League national esports team, interacted with students and staff, and learned about the free residential scholarship available to students.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to introduce Central Penn College to Acting Secretary Hagarty, along with the many opportunities we offer in modern professional education, from free residential scholarships to in-demand Allied health care careers to strong sports teams, including ours National Championship Rocket League Esports team,” said College President Dr. Linda Fedrizzi-Williams. “For 141 years we have provided career-focused education, rich in experience but at the cutting edge of what employers need now and what students need to succeed in the jobs of today and tomorrow. We appreciate the role played by Secretary Hagarty, Rep. Patty Kim and their leaders in inspiring education excellence.”

Since 2015, the Wolf administration has increased funding for education by more than $3.7 billion. In his most recent budget, Gov. Tom Wolf reaffirmed his commitment to education at all levels with a historic $1.8 billion increase in investment. This budget prioritizes resources for Pennsylvanians and Pennsylvania families and helps provide children with the resources they need to thrive.
