Poloniex, Bittrex Want Kyle Roche’s Law Firm Removed From Class-Action Against the Exchanges – Bitcoin News

Following the controversy surrounding Kyle Roche, a lawyer and founding partner of litigation firm Roche Freedman LLP, the two cryptocurrency exchange firms Bittrex and Poloniex want the law firm to be removed from the class action against them. Similar to the attorney representing Tether, attorneys representing Bittrex and Poloniex claim that “Mr. Roche’s recent statements raise serious concerns. “

Poloniex, Bittrex lawyers want Roche Freedman LLP removed from an anti-trade lawsuit

Bittrex and Poloniex want the law firm Roche Freedman LLP removed from a specific class action brought against them. The cryptocurrency boutique litigation firm filed a class action against several trading platforms in 2020 and the lawsuit claims that a number of centralized exchanges have used tether (USDT) to manipulate cryptocurrency prices.

However, Kyle Roche, a lawyer and founding partner of Roche Freedman, withdrew from the lawsuits after a video series was published by Crypto Leaks. In the video clips, Roche discusses her relationship with various cryptocurrency businesses.

The attorney claims that the clips contain “numerous false statements without sources and highly edited illegally obtained video clips that are not presented with accurate context.” Despite Roche’s defense, she has decided to withdraw from several high-profile cryptocurrency lawsuits.

Immediately after Roche removed himself from the lawsuits, Tether’s attorney Elliot Greenfield of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP demanded that Roche’s entire firm be excluded from the lawsuit. Now Poloniex and Bittrex are demanding the same and believe that Roche’s statements and integrity could taint actions such as the intent behind the discovery.

“Mr. Roche’s recent statements raise serious concerns about the intent behind this discovery and how it will be used,” the exchange’s attorneys wrote to the New York Southern District Judge President. The deposit adds:

Although the exchange defendants appreciate that a precautionary order has been issued in this matter and that lawyers can be expected to comply with those orders, Mr. Roche’s statements make it clear that he has already used confidential material produced in litigation for improper purposes.

Meanwhile, Roche Freedman believes the allegations against Kyle Roche are “demonstrably false” and the law firm says it expected the defendants to leverage the dispute against the entire law firm. “It is not surprising, however, that the defendants are using it as a litigation tactic to disqualify the entire company,” explained Roche Freedman.
