“Marcus vehemently denies the motor vehicle accident allegations and looks forward to defending himself once all the facts are out,” Meyer’s attorney Eric Hessler told NFL Network.
Saints make amazing deal as Week 1 approaches
This is Mayer’s second arrest in less than two years. He was booked last February for DUI, DUI/property damage and leaving the scene of an accident in Florida.
After five seasons with the New York Jets, Mayer just signed a three-year, $22.5 million deal with the Saints. He is expected to be a safety starter alongside Tyron Matthews, who also joined New Orleans in free agency.
While Maye’s first-week form against the Atlanta Falcons is now questionable, NFL suspensions usually go further after the facts about the case are revealed.
