SI Top 10: SEC Sends Pac-12 to the Woodshed

We kick off this year’s Top 10 with a suggested message for the Pac-12: You all stay west of the Mississippi.

On the first full Saturday of the college football season, the league saw its two CFP candidates, Oregon and Utah, suffer blows at the hands of a big, bad SEC. The Ducks never had a chance against Georgia in Atlanta, and the Utes were swamped in coach Billy Napier’s first game as Gators coach.

The Pac-12 is heading in the unimaginable direction it seems: for the sixth year in a row not qualifying for the CFP. The 12-team playoffs can’t come soon!
