It’s winter activity season and Maine is the outdoor adventure center for all things snow. We’re the hotspot for hiking and water sports in the warmer months, and we have terrain for skiing, sledding, snowshoeing and more throughout the winter.
There’s a reason our state is filled with outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
Outdoor Activities in Maine
For the sake of simplicity, there is one farm in Maine that has almost every opportunity for winter activities. Pineland Farms in New Gloucester has beautiful walks that are perfect any time of the year, but even more so in the winter.
At Pineland Farms you can ski, snowshoe, tire bike, ice skate and sled all in one place.
To make it even more enticing, they now have heated snow globes to warm up after a day of favorite winter activities.
Snow globes at Pineland Farms
This Saturday, December 3rd, snow globe rentals can be reserved at Pineland Farms between 10am and 4:45pm. There are four options for heated globes:
- Seats 8 with a large table
- Seats 6 with a large table
- Seats 4 with two rocking chairs and four Adirondack chairs with a large table
- Seats 4 with a wicker couch, two chairs and a table
The heated snow globes are only $25 an hour which is a killer deal to me.
We all know that feeling of spending the afternoon ice skating or tobogganing and the winter chill bites you, your fingers feel numb from the cold and you only need a minute to thaw out before continuing your day of outdoor fun.
This is the ultimate way to spend a snowy day in winter with all your needs. You can pack your own picnic or order takeaway from the on-site market.
Pineland Farms winter activities
There are many options for an active day at Pineland Farms, including cross country trails, ski rentals, day and season passes, lessons, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, ice skating and sledding. They have a rental shop for sports and sledding, you can hire BYOS or there.
If you want to spend a beautiful winter day outside in Maine but have the option to thaw and warm up in a heated slow ball, this is the way to go.
